    Hi la321,

This doesn't seem to be an issue with the Monitor. It could either be an issue with application or the video driver.

Does this happens to a specific application or it happens to all the softwares on the system. If possible remove the video drivers from the system and install it again that should take care of the issue.

If you are not aware of the drivers required then update the specifications of your system so we can find the relevant drivers for you.

Kindly update your system specs here by following this.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

Judging by his motherboard I'd guess at an Inspiron 545.

    Hello,

As suggested, and as soon as you are able, hook the monitor up to another computer. This helps identify if the issue is with the monitor or the current computer.

As soon as you determine that, we can lead you toward solving the issue. If the problem is with the monitor, you may just need to buy a replacement, or check the warranty. Sometimes you are provided free service calls to troubleshoot the issue with a Dell representative. you may also be able to pull a ticket number on their website for troubleshooting. These are a few options you can try, as well as this forum

If the problem is with the computer itself (or a part of the hardware), check the warranty and contact Dell, or wait to see if someone has a suggestion you might try here.

As always, make sure windows is completely updated, as well as drivers (using the latest ones).

You might try this out, though it may not help with hardware issues: Windows ClearType Tuner
