    Graphics card help

    Hi,

I'm making the big jump from XP to Windows 7, but of course my graphics card does not pass the requirement!

I'm just wondering could anyone help me select a graphics card so it can run it?

I am not very proud of my motherboard, but oh well

hi Klash, and welcome to sevenforums,

luckily there are still a few AGP cards around.

have a look at this link

    don't buy the £400 card!

the basic geforce 6200 @ £27 would be powerful enough to run visual aero effects (i know, i've got one in my kitchen pc) use basic programs, and will allow you to watch fullscreen movies too.

but don't think about playing 3d games on it!

    you'll enjoy windows 7!

Depends on how much you're willing to pay for a video card and what you intend to do with it on the system. For a budget gaming card, heres a link:

    Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100284L Radeon HD 5750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Thats the card I'm currently looking at for a replacement of my dual 8800 ultras which (i suspect) have died. Its a DX11 card, which is what Windows 7 uses, so you'll get the very most out of it.

    Hope that helped.

@TheMumm, Klash's motherboard is agp only...that card would not work with his pc.

@Klash, i don't know if the card will play cs, i never tried on that card, but i strongly suspect that it will, as the source engine is pretty efficient. you could try googling for the minimum requirements for the game...or indeed other agp cards for sale in the uk.

but it certainly wouldn't be much good for modern games.

Apologies. I'd also get a new mobo if you can, but that may not be an option. I wish you luck!
