hdmi "out"/connection problem with media pc

I have a strange problem with my pc. I have an HP g50 109nr that I don't use anymore. I want to use it as a media pc and hook it up via hdmi to my tv. I got it out and plugged it into the hdmi "in" of my tv. I am getting a black screen and it flashes no signal once every 10 seconds or so. I have checked all settings and the computer recognizes there is second monitor. My drivers are installed and working. I have no error in Device Manager. I tried my new laptop and it worked perfectly. Could it be a problem with the graphics card or is there something else I am missing?

    Thanks.

Good afternoon JTE88 welcome to Sevenforums.

A google search suggests this may be a known issue for your particular graphics chip, although the only fix I can find seems to suggest trying a driver from 2009 - which isn't really recommended (186.44). https://forums.geforce.com/default/t...dmi-problem/2/

However - as you have a laptop, it really isn't recommended to install drivers directly from the chipset vendor. So can you please go to HPs website, and make sure you have the latest version of the driver from there before we go any further? (Unable to provide a link I'm afraid, HP claims your laptop doesn't exist!) - Derekimo has provided me with a link - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...08643&sw_lang=

    Thanks.
