How does AMD Catalyst actually work?

    Hey guys long time!!!

Firstly I was not entirely sure where to put this post so please feel free to move it to the right category! (drivers? gaming? eh :> )

Anyway I have a question about how Catalyst manages the ingame AA AF and stuffs... Basically I normally go through the game but I am experimenting with Catalyst..

I play source games like Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike Source, Left 4 Dead etc... I am finding it hard to understand how Catalyst manages it, when the catalyst settings are set do they disable the ingame settings?

if the ingame settings are set at the same time, normally 8x msaa, 16x af, and if the Catalyst settings are in use, do i need to go into the game and set them to disabled? Will there be conflict with both on (Catalyst at EQAA not MSAA) Or will one disable the other,

i have searched around and have not found a satisfied answer... thanks!

    click on the + add
navigate to the game's exe file - usually in Program Files (x86) folder

NB. Steam games will appear in the appropriate Steam folder:

click on the exe file (often it's just called "application")
the profile will then automatically appear on the CCC

    - you can then further adjust the profile settings, if you want to..

OK so here are some photos, the first one is In Game, MSAA 8x and 16x AF (everything else set to highest)

The second one is from catalyst 24x EQAA with supersampling, 16x AF, with AA=none in game and AF set to 16x due to the fact you cannot disable (Bilinear to 16x)
