    how do I remove a drive lock?



    hello all,
    I dont wanna waste too much time so ill get right to it. I have a asus laptop and while letting my son play around last night he somehow locked me out. Ihave looked for hrs trying to find a fix...and I cant so. the drive lock comes on as soon as the power button is pressed I cant access my cmos or bios..I jus got the laptop about a week ago so I dont mind erasing whats on it( if I must). please help me with this. Thanks in advance...

    The easy way to fix your computer is just have your son unlock the computer. A password must of been installed to lock others out.

    thanks for such a quick reply. the issue is hes 7..he doesn't know what he did... is there a way to override for a moment to gain acces to the cmos? ive tried everything that I know of...

    Someone who has put a password block on bios knows what they are doing. Someone who password blocks access to the operating system know what they are doing.

    As far as I know this is the rule that applies.

    my bad for breaking the rules... didn't realize. umm so I guess im screwed... really not tryin to pay 475 for a diagnosis.

    Contact the manufacturer and be prepared to prove ownership. Hard drive passwords are a security measure and are designed to be difficult to remove. It it were otherwise they would serve no purpose.

    I`m sure your 7 year old did not change the password for windows or the bios, I`m sure it`s something different and much simpler. Did you have your own password to get on the pc ? As mentioned we are not allowed to help you hack into the pc, but maybe if you describe exactly what`s happening when you 1st turn on the pc, maybe we can help. What exactly does this lock out screen ( or whatever ) look like ?
