MSI OC Genie - Word of warning

    Hello everyone,

I updated some drivers for my A55M-P33 today and since it is an MSI motherboard it comes with Overclock genie which decided to switch itself on!

I thought it was okay since it only changed from 2.7Ghz to 2.85Ghz, however it also messed with the GPU clock and it seemed fine. I clicked reboot and all of a sudden I lost the display and thought I'd messed up the APU (A6-3670k Black edition) but it turns out that Overclock genie completely SUCKS and I had to use a very old dedicated GPU which I had lying about to get it back to rights.

In a nutshell: I wouldn't recommend using it I'm pretty sure the GPU being messed about with is what caused me a problem.

Unfortunately the OC genie hasn't improved much since it's inception.

Since you had to use a dedicated card, there is a very good chance that the APU was indeed pushed too far.

While auto overclocking BIOS/Software is getting better - it's still better to do it manually.
