Cant see NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT video card in device manager.

Hello,

i know that i am not the first person with this problem. But i cant find solution.

I have HP Pavilion m9561cs (HP Pavilion Elite m9561cs Desktop PC Product Specifications HP Pavilion Elite m9561cs Desktop PC | HP® Support)

My hard drive was broken, so i installed new one and after that i have installed Win 7 ultimate 32 bit. Now i cant see in device manager my graphic card, only onboard standard VGA.

I tried to install drivers form nvidia, but its impossible because driver cant find the hardware and installation is cancelled. I aslo tried to install drivers from HP and it send this error message:
Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update.
Update has been cancelled. (9996) Error 9996: The installer has a list of supported hardware that this update is suitable for - and your hardware (including your HP model) is not on the list.



Bios settings: PCI


I tried to turn off PC, unplug power cord, reseat card, but without change.


Can you hel pme something else?

I think not. But i disable this option in device manager when pc run in safe mode.

to Kaktussoft: Yes i didnt touch BIOS for a long time ... no need. Everything worked. But i now i try remove CMOS battery - loaded factory settings: RAID - windows dont start - still rebooting. Then change to IDE and windows started but without nvidia card in device manager.

to Archer: the same after default settings (RAID - rebooting, IDE - win start without video card.

Go to BIOS and set the settings to default, If you are not sure about changing the settings. Once you change the settings to default, reboot the PC and check the GPU. Also, make sure that the card is plugged in properly and getting proper power supply.

Once you see the card in device manager, update the drivers.

Try to disable in BIOS. Or didn't you touch the BIOS for a long time... it was always working with current BIOS setting?

Did you reset the BIOS or removed the CMOS battery???

Any other ideas?

Windows listing "Standard VGA" for your video adapter doesn't necessarily mean its using the onboard video. It just means it didn't identify the video card and is only using the generic standard VGA driver. If you haven't been in the BIOS previous to this I wouldn't go messing with it now. I would try the driver offered by HP first. If you haven't already try installing the chip-set drivers from HP. Sometimes this is required to get full functionality of the AGP, PCIe or PCI connector so that the card can be ID'd properly.

It seems that this is close to correct answer. But when i want to install chipset drivers from HP, there is only drivers for win vista - installation in win 7 was cancelled.
