Question about altering BIOS on EVGA GTX 570 HD
So i posted this on EVGA's forums and its basicaly gone dark so i figured why not here too since it's a odd question.
BEFORE I BEGIN I WOULD LIKE TO STATE THAT WHAT I AM ASKING I KNOW PROBABLY VOIDS MY WARRANTY (WHATS LEFT OF IT) AND I UNDERSTAND THIS.
I have a EVGA 012-P3-1571-KR GeForce GTX 570 HD w/Display-Port (Fermi) 1280MB and a 025-P3-1579-RB GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 2560MB. As far as i can tell the only difference is the ram size. i currently have both in SLI with drivers 310.70 with coolbits with hex 1A so i can SLI with diff vram. I want to use the new 331.XX drivers though so my question is this. Can i copy the bios off the 1280MB card and flash it to the 2560MB card thus making it only see and use 1280MB (im fine with this) so that i can then SLI with the new drivers since they technically use the same VRAM amount. or will this just mess up the newer card? if you think it will be okay then i will do it buy copying the bios of the 1280MB card with GPU-Z and flashing it to the 2560MB card with nvflash.
I hope my question makes sense.
