Windows 7 - Refresh rate won't go above 59hz

Refresh rate won't go above 59hz

I have a 8800 GTS running with an HP LP2275w monitor. I just installed Windows 7 and for some reason it won't let the refresh rate go above 59hz. My monitor is capable of running 60hz. This may not seem like a big deal to some, but I actually find it quite disorienting. When I change the video settings with in the nvidia control panel or the windows resolution settings, it always reverts it back to 59hz. I don't get any error messages, it acts like it changed the setting, but then it gets reverted immediately. Anyone know what might be causing this or how to fix it?

I've tried uninstalling the nvidia drivers and letting windows handle it, but that didn't work. I have all of the up to date drivers currently available. Lil help?

Just a question after your through with the above. have you installed the driver for your LCD? Or does it show as PNP in device Mgr? Once the driver is installed you should get the full resolution capabilities of the LCD and refresh rates. Just a thought. Fabe

This worked!

I have installed the monitor drivers. It could possibly be that the drivers need updating from HP. But considering how many other people are having the problem I think it's a win 7 thing. That manual timing seems to have solved the issue. Atleast all the menu's say it's running at 60hz now. I'm going to have to read through more of that post and figure out what's the cause of that.

Thanks for directing me to the fix!
