Happened to me few weeks back, I've too remove the GPU for dust cleaning and the monitor just kept stuck in standby mode after I assembled everything. I've swap the cables, the monitors, no luck.

A friend of mine told me to reset the CMOS battery and it worked, weird :/

Did you clear the BIOS by removing the battery for a min?

You could also try the Gpu in another slot on the motherboard to see if that makes any difference.

I believe it only fits in one slot, which is the PCI-E x16 slot. I just rest the BIOS but still no result..

Are you getting any warning lights or beeps from the motherboard?

Maybe try it with just 1 stick of ram.

I am running out of ideas.

No warning beeps or lights. Do you think it could be the RAM? Before it stopped working I tried doing a RAM test but it would shut off half way through..

Well it's worth a shot. How many sticks of ram do you have?
I would test it with one stick at a time to see if doe's anything.
