No Nvidia control panel/driver not installing

    Ez Crew,

Having a major problem trying to install the latest drivers for my 8800GT, I went to hook my rig up to my 42" LCD TV through the HDMI input (something I did all the time while on XP) after a clean install of Win7 X64. I noticed the desktop was to big for the screen so I went to install 191 driver so I could get the control panel to adjust it.

The install starts fine gets to the installing drivers box but then the install just hangs go's blank, comes back hangs then get a notice say something like "the system could not be updated......."

I've tired unistalling the drivers from the device manager and reinsatlling all in safe mode. The same thing happened trying to install the driver again and there was no "Display Adapter " in device manager. I then restarted and the card installed(the driver?) it's self again

When I check the driver version its 8.15.11.8618

Anyone have any ideas whats going?

    Cheers
    Jimmy

Hello, and welcome to the forums.

Have you tried installing the 190.62 Nvidia Drivers from the site? Alot of people are having problems with the 191 drivers.

Hey bro that 190.62 driver is for 32bit XP, I'm running Win7 64bit, the 190.62 won't even install

Anyone know of a working Win7 64bit driver?

I have similar problem with my 9800 GT on a Samsung R710 laptop after installing Win7 64. There is no video card showing in Device Manager so any Nvidia driver .exe fails as it does not detect the card.

EDIT: try http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and choose option 2 automatic detect drivers (only works in Internet Explorer)

Yea mines not that bad. I'm showing my 8800GT in the device manager and there's the 191 driver installed in the display drivers for Nvidia under programme files. I just can't get the control panel to install.

Been reading a lot of forums where Nvidia users are having a really bad time trying to sort this. So far I can't find a definite answer to fix any of these problems. Some people have put up with this since Win7 beta came out.......

Its really odd, its not a problem that occurs with everyone, maybe its the combination of hardware thats causing clashes. My 9400GT 1GB has never ever not been detected by W7.
