    Same problem here..

I have 8600gts and running win7 x86 oem .. (Have the 64bit version but i choose not to install it :P).

Im experiensing the same problem everyone else is describing .. I try to install the lates driver but all I get is this message

and nothing happends. The strange thing is that gpu-z tells me then I have 191.07 installed (which is the latest one) but the nvidia control panel isnt showing anywhere and all my games are not using fullscreen.

I've tried to install 190.02 but the same thing happens .. I have tried to uninstall and install the drivers in safemode but the same thing happends.

I'm left with using the driver on the CD that came with my graphic card which is using version 162.18 o.O - There everything works fine .. the games are in fullscreen, the nvidia control panel is showing and everything is fine..
But I'd rather not use such a old driver though :P

Right then at last got my control panel back. Did a fresh install. Ran Windows Update, from list of optional updates there was a driver update for the 8800GT (my card). It install screen flicked on off, I checked the control panel undre display and low and behold there was the Nvidia control panel. Bit of a muck around but i'm happy now!!!

    dear god....

i installed win7 64bit and tried the latest driverupdates but the same **** happened.. - now i tried dling a archived driver, 186.18 and the same **** happens again!

i refuse to believe that the only driver that manages to install properly is the one that came with the graphic card on a CD, with version 161.xx o.O

    this is lolz

OH MY GOD I EFFING LOVE YOU MAN ! ..FINALLY it worked to install the latest driver ... So here is exactly what I did so others can maybe get it to work like I did !
I've been having MASSIVE problems with installing the latest drivers for my GPU and finally it worked !

    1. I installed and let guru3d clean all my display drivers.
    2. Restarted. (ITS IMPORTANT TO DO THIS!)
    3. Downloaded and installed the 191.07 driver from WINDOWS UPDATE (IMPORTANT)
    4. Restarted (IMPORTANT!)

note: I had to try and install the driver three times from windows update before it installed successfully ! So keep on going until it works! :P

And VOILA ! ...finally after weeks of brainstorming and swearing and only god and me knows what more.... it finally worked to install the driver ! :)

oh and im running 64bit win7

.......aaaaaaaaaaaand it was too good to be true!

Now all my games are not using fullscreen, there is a "black space" on the side of the screen.. Its not bound to just one game, it's on every game I play that is in fullscreen.
I know other people have this problem but the thing is that I dont get this problem with VERY old drivers, like 161.xx version o.O

I've tried going to the nvidia panel > adjust desktop size and positions and "Use nvidia scaling" but everytime I change it and hit "APPLY" it just reverts back to "Use my displays built in scaling" .. o.O

Has anyone been able to fix the game/fullscreen fail thingy ?
