What type is the video card you are trying to use now ?

Please tell me the exact make and model of the computer.
Not at home at the moment. I'll get specifics when I get home.

There was some generic card installed. I took it out and put my card in. It should be a ati radeon 5700.

But I got rid of the original card. So the only way to connect my monitor to my computer would be the video card I currently have

(I'll get major specifics later in a few hours)

My video card works perfectly though through div. I would hate to get rid of a card I value at $100 over it not working with one particular format.

Only work around I can think of is to put a friends video card in, to get my drivers up to date and computer working. Then I could maybe put the other video card in. Im hoping someone has a better solution though. I don't know many computer savvy friends with video. cards

If you know the card works, then just keep trying, you`ll figure it out. Just make sure it seated properly.

And you didn`t say whether or not it has a power connector, I`m assuming it doesn`t ?

OK, just asked because believe it or not, people do forget to connect it and the card won`t work.

I just tried multiple cables, hdmi, vga, div, I tried multiple monitors.

Nothing worked.

I reseated the video card, which had some heat and appears to be running.

Only thing I haven't tried yet is another video card.

Anymore suggestions?

have you got another monitor/device to try on that monitor to rule that out.

next option is try removing the cmos battery and then trying to boot. it will use the default bios which will elminate any issue there.

I removed the cmos battery. I still get no signal from multiple monitors I tried. Computer starts and boots like normal, with a bit of a weird noise. But that's it
