Confused About 3 Screen setup on a Radeon 7700

I was given a Radeon 7700 card and was told I could hook up 3 screen to it. I went out and bought a displayport to HDMI adaptor today after researching online. I came home and hooked up all my screens as

(left) 2nd Screen - Display port to HDMI
    (center) Main Screen - DVI
    (right) 3rd Screen - HDMI

Now the video card only has 3 ports on it, where my older 5800 series had 2 dvi, 1 hdmi and 1 display. But now after hooking up the screen, the 3rd screen on the display adaptor port is detected but can't be added/enable while the 2 other screens are on.

I was told you can't have 3 screens where 1 is HDMI and the other 2 are display port or DVI but then how would this card be able to suppose 3+ screens? am I missing something?

Friends said I need either/or one of these adaptors.

that part i can't tell you, the card just says 7700 series and every program like speccy and HWmontior reads 7700 series.

AMD Radeon? HD 7700 Series Graphics Cards

i feel stupid for not knowing but i honestly think it is just called a 7700

I had a look at Sapphire and I think I found your card. Basically, Sapphire says that you need a Displayport capable monitor or approved Dongle to get 3 monitors to work under Eyefinity:

    SAPPHIRE HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB GDDR5#

(If that's not your card, the Eyefinity thing still applies)

So you're a little stuck, but I may have a solution. Where in Nova Scotia are you? I know a great local computer shop in Halifax that can probably help you get this going.

i am 45 mins away from halifax and don't get their often. BUT I was talking to a friend who has a 7790 and he used this Displayport Male TO VGA Femal DP M TO VGA F Adapter Converter FOR PC Laptops | eBay VGA to DisplayPort adaptor because it somehow tricks the displayport or something.

not sure if you know anything about that. I can't afford a new screen or those 100+ dollar adaptors.

I don't know whether that would work or not. It seems like the card needs a DisplyPort splitter to run more than two monitors. Are you able to get two monitors running at least?

yes I can run 2 screens perfectly fine. I did some research last night and found out that for it to work on 3 screens I need 1 native and 2 legacy.

So i had 3 legacy source (HDMI and 2 DVI) which wouldn't work.

So this adaptor i ordered to test has a built in chip or something that somehow works with my card and eyefinity because instead of the DP adapter i have now that reads up as a DVI it will read as a DP source which is Native even tho my screen is VGA.

It is confusing i know but my friend does it this way and whatnot.

Also, this guys does the setup i would have to do.

I will bookmark my thread and once I get the adaptor, i will let you know.
