Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Video Cards & Video Devices, Desktop Graphics Cards, $50 - $75
Based on the OP's stated needs, the IGP would be the way to go. They could always purchase a card later if they needed more power.

And not trying to be funny but I'm not sure most of those cards are that far above what say the IGP in the Haswell's offer in their 4600 IGP. And you know I'm a photog/gamer so I get it, but not everyone needs a dedicated GPU. The OP appears to be one of them.

Again, you can always get a card later if more GPU processing power is needed, and in this way, you don't have to skimp.

Anyway it's always good to have a myriad of opinions; that's a good thing

Peace

Yes, I've got a lot of good advise in this thread and I sure could not argue Intel vs. AMD. Sometimes it's hard for the folks that do have the better cpu's and graphics to realize there are some of us that get by on pretty minimal systems. Budget is really not an issue with me but I'm just not into buying more power than I need. Looking around on Newegg I can pick up a AMD Trinity A6 and MB for around $150 (or add about another $50 for an A8). Intel cpu's would about double this price unless I'm missing something.

Honestly other than internet & MS Office, the only thing I do that uses a little graphics is digital picture editing on a small scale, and all those are working pretty good on my 3 year old onboard graphics mb.

I'm sure the AMD combo will be great. I like responsiveness which is why I switched to Intel. If budget is no concern, you might consider a SSD for your OS.

Yeah, I agree; and at times we project our perspectives on others without regards to their situation. But, that's the basis of opinions.

If you read one of my earlier posts you'd see I'm using my notebook with has an Intel processor with an IGP and I do photo editing with Adobe Photoshop without issues. Sometimes it's a little slow, but there are no rendering issues.

Good luck in whichever way you go.
