Looking to upgrade to an R280x

Will upgrading to an r280x create a bottleneck in my system? How will my cpu compare if I upgrade my gpu?

System seems fine, what I would worry about more is the power supply. What brand of psu is it? Some brands are cheap and can't even output what they say they support. The i5 I would say is fine and it's quad core at a decent clock speed. Hardrives are fantastic since you even got a ssd on it so should be no issues. Windows 8 is fine and your internet connection is good. I don't think anything should bottleneck. Just find out what type of power supply you got on it or post here and let us know to see if it is a good brand that can pump out that many watts. Also were you said pc or laptop, pc always comes first since you can upgrade when ever you feel it's time to, cheaper and can have a lot more horsepower and doesn't over heat as easy as say a laptop would thus longer life span.

For a GPU like that, you will need a branded PSU. Card will need somewhere around 450-600W of power.

You should see a big jump in graphics performance with the r9 280X, no bottle neck. Right now I have my 8350/990fxa 16gb, ssd-hhd, 2 opticals, ASUS R9 280X TOP running with 10 apps open, 6 are Firefox, Tbird and a few others, plus all the tray stuff. I'm consuming 198-226 watts. This is with a h100i and 8 fans running. Watt reading is from a CyberPower watt gadget that has been check with a kill-a-watt meter and is within 5% error factor.

I can run my litecoin mining program that loads the gpu to 100% and I use 350+/- watts total. Your 750 watt PSU is fine.

Same system with two 7950's in Crossfire uses 225-245 watts under similar load. Both cards in mining mode it jumps to 450-500 watts.
