Thanks Maxie, just ordered the geforce 210. Hopefully it'll work and put a rest to these issues.

    Cheers

Before you spend on graphic card, make sure you can install it. The PC shop repairman I took my laptop to strongly advised me against graphic card installation for basically two reasons: First, it's a tedious long process. He quoted labor cost that I thought was prohibitive. Second, it's not guaranteed. Apparently it breaks down a lot. Then I went online and saw some videos on how to do it...and it looked like more complicated than by-pass surgery.

It does not take very long to Install a Graphics Card and the procedure is quite simple ....

Indeed it was simple, luckily it was a desktop!

The Card came today, installed it fine with the drivers direct from Nvidia, and it's working perfectly! At least the resolution is!

The actual gfx card fan is very noisy at all times. I'm thinking it may be a faulty card and may replace it. However, by getting this card it occored to me there really is limited space in this pc and I can't get one bigger than this one (the depth on this one is around 2cm) so getting a fanless card with a heatsink is out of the question.

May just exchange this for another or look for an alternative that will fit.

Hahaha I recently got him an ipad for his birthday recently! He just likes the PC as it's connected to the scanner. He's been scannin loads of old photo albums recently. Should be finished in a few months hopefully.
