    NVIDIA control panel help.

hey guys. i was looking around for some help with this..i installed windows 7 and no control panel. please dont say i didnt search..cause i did

    nVidia Control Panel

i uninstalled current drivers and installed the 185.85 as recommended. I have a 9800gtx and when i try to install the control panel it says "setup failed to read Display Driver to be used with this package". I read that i should temporary disable winrar, which i did. also, i saw on the post that the data should be in .cab not .rar, which they are.

    help me please =)

Unless there is more to it than I can visualize in my brains, disabling (can you even do that? heh heh) Winrar has no affect on anything to do with NVidia, drivers or your video card.

I suggest you Google for how to clean your system of NVidia files and uninstall NVidia driver.

Based on your reading, when you are satisfied your system is "clean", then reinstall the driver by running the .exe.

    Use this driver to reinstall.

Perhaps that's correct, but you want my best advice for the day I've given so far? Here it is:

Think for yourself and don't go by other peoples' opinions. Try it out and see how it goes.

    New in Version 191.07

    • Adds support for OpenGL 3.2 for GeForce 8, 9, 100, and 200-series GPUs and ION GPUs.
    • Accelerates performance in several gaming applications. The following are examples of improvements measured with version 191.07 drivers vs. version 190.62 drivers (results will vary depending on your GPU, system configuration, and game settings):
      • Up to 12% performance increase in ARMA 2
      • Up to 8% performance increase in Batman: Arkham Asylum with GPU PhysX enabled
      • Up to 50% performance increase in Call of Juarez: Blood in Bound with SLI enabled
      • Up to 14% performance increase in Fallout 3 (indoor scenes) with antialiasing enabled
      • Up to 10% performance increase in Far Cry 2 (DX9 version) with antialiasing enabled
      • Up to 34% performance increase in Prototype with antialiasing enabled
    • Adds SLI support for Aion, Darkfall, Dawn of Magic 2: Time of Shadows, Dreamkiller, Fuel, Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim, Need for Speed: Shift and more.
    • Includes numerous bug fixes, including the following key fix (additional bug fixes can be found in the release notes on the documentation tab): For graphics cards supporting multiple clock states, 3D clocks correctly return to 2D clocks after exiting a 3D application.
    • Users without US English operating systems can select their language and download the International driver here.

Sounds like you used a download manager to get that driver. You will want to disable the download manager and just use IE to obtain the driver. The Nvidia control panel installs automatically with the drivers, there should be no need to install it seperately.

The 191.07's have been causing a lot of problems for Win 7 users. Best to run the 190.62's for now.
