im fairly sure the gt200 uses shared memory, same as the gt 250 in my macbook. which means it will use 512mb all day long and then take the rest from your ram when it needs it.

either way 512mb or 1gb its not going to make much of a difference in terms of performance. the rest of the cards spec are the real bottleneck

As far as I know a dedicated card in a desktop PC won't use shared memory like a card in a laptop would. My GT 210 used the full 2 gig it came with.

Are you running the 32 bit version of Windows 7? And how much RAM is installed in your motherboard? Windows 7 32 bit has a 4 gig max limit on the amount of memory it can map. Your system RAM + your video RAM cannot exceed 4 gig. If they do some of it will not be used.

No problem, I think they make both versions for all of them. You can have shared memory in a desktop PC when the GPU is onboard. Either in the processor (APU) or onboard on the motherboard. Even then its not regarded as a mobile GPU though.

That's your issue then 3 + 2 = 5 and your limited to a max of 4. I'd have to go read up on it again but it might actually be slightly less than 4. To use all of what you have now you'll need to go 64 bit. That means reinstalling Windows with the 64 bit install Media. Another option though is to remove 1 gig of your motherboards RAM so you can use more of the Video RAM on your Video card. That would get you a 2 + 2 = 4.
