    Hi,
I also have a Pavilion zd8000 with display problems on a Windows 7x64 platform. The original display adapter (XPx32) Was ATI Mobility Radeon X600.

A cannot use the original in any compatibily mode. The computer won't load beyound the Windows logo.

Windows 7 is a VGA adapter, but this loads in the wrong resolution which is very stretched.

I tried the Catalyst driver which lists the ATI mobility Radeon X600 among as compatible, but the Display drivers won't have it. It installs, but I receive an Error message that the 'Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your ATI graphics dirver, or enable your ATI adapter using the Display Manager.'

So, why didn't I install this through Device Manager/Update driver? Because the Windows refused to update this, or the VGA option saying that the installed Windows versions were Up-to-date.

Where do I go from here, please? Apart from the fact that the VGA stretched resolution is enough to drive one up the wall, this computer gets used for PPoint presentations, so it is imperative that the Display resolution is accurate.

Thanks Andrew. I will give that a whirl. But I might need some more explicit description of the driver.

Step1: get the newest driver for your card you could get it by driver max just download drivermax and create an account then click go online to get latest driver updates when the page loads up beside the grafics driver selection click on the floppy disk then get the first driver that pops up

    Step2:Restart Your PC

Step3: go to the ati website and clicks drivers and support

Step4: under the legacy drivers selection Click windows vista 32bit

Step5: scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and download and install the wdm integrated driver

Step6: Restart your PC again then right click on your desktop then clik personalize then change the theme from windows 7 basic to a windows aero them Eample:United States theme

I hope this works for you it worked for me it took a wile for me to figure out how to get windows aero but it make windows 7 look a lot nicer and cleaner
