Card question

K im not to lean on computer graphics cards so have a question to find out if im being taken by evga. I have a 9800 gx2 ssc that one of the gpu's died on me so I RMA'd it, I had product # 01G-P3-N897-AR but it looks like they shiped out product # 01G-P3-1281-AR which i look up as a GTX 285, Im not sure about shader clocks and the whole bit. Did they send me a considerable card? A worse card? or a better card? Thanks for help, new to forums. nice layout.

It's better in some categories, worse in others. It's a little worse overall.

For the Stats Below. HIGHER is better.

9800 GX2

CUDA Cores 256 (128 per GPU)
Graphics Clock (MHz) 600 MHz
Processor Clock (MHz) 1500 MHz
Texture Fill Rate (billion/sec) 76.8

Memory Clock (MHz) 1000 MHz
Standard Memory Config 1 GB
Memory Interface Width 512-bit
Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) 128 (64 per GPU)

GTX 285

CUDA Cores 240
Graphics Clock (MHz) 648 MHz
Processor Clock (MHz) 1476 MHz
Texture Fill Rate (billion/sec) 51.8

Memory Clock (MHz) 1242 MHz
Standard Memory Config 1 GB GDDR3
Memory Interface Width 512-bit
Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) 159.0

Wrong way of looking at it. Higher numbers in the specs do not always equate to a faster card. He had a dual card (higher power requirements and more heat) to a single card (lower power requirements and less heat), with the single card being as fast or faster in most cases,

techPowerUp :: Leadtek GeForce GTX 285 1024 MB Review :: Page 1 / 30

He also went from a card that got very little support from Nvidia (they have a bad habit of this with their GX2 cards, just ask anyone that had the 7900 GX2), to a card that should receive support for quite a long time (as in proper driver support).
