AMD Overdrive function missing from CCC. How to fix?

anyone know this?
on a AMD APU-based laptop [I have three at the moment] I really need that function working so I can configure Presets/Profiles to pre-empt the Display Driver timeout problem ["display driver stopped responding"]j. Mine are HP, Lenovo, Samsung: one using Llano, the other two using Hudson chipset with A8-4500m and A10-4500m respectively.

reading every responsible thread I can find, this function is there/visible/available on some AMD-based laptops, and missing on others. Maddeningly, some people had the function available but in later issues of AMD drivers/CCC, it is disappeared. Some people that seem to have dealt with the issue diligently say this is a Windows issue; that the function requires a certain level of Windows permissions via the registry; have used regedit to alter the settings to "Full Control" for the user account, and claim victory. I did that, no victory.

would appreciate any insight you have.
