distorted screen after re-installation of windows

hey guys! had a problem with some nasty virus and decided to just re-install windows as i wasnt going to be losing any data. everything went fine aside from my screen looking like it is stretched vertically! i installed the latest drivers for my hd 5450 from amd's website and have my monitor (sanyo lcd 32'' tv) set to its recommended setting of 1280 x 720. desktop icons, images in chrome, and video all look stretched vertically. checked a couple other forums with no luck, so i thought i would give this a go! thanks in advance!

here is an example of what is going on. the boxes on the screen should be square, not rectangle shaped. imgur: the simple image sharer. i tried switching to my onboard graphics to see if that made a difference, and i had the same issue. everything on my screen also appears to be "larger" than it was before i re-installed the os and display drivers? do i have a monitor issue? could my hdmi cable be bad? what is going on here! it is driving me nuts!

Is your TV HD? If so set your resolution to 1920x1080.
