Ati 4850 problems Hi,
I recently installed RTM Windows 7 Pro. Before i had 7000,7056 and 7100. On 7000 and at 7056 i've had similar problem i have now. When i try to refresh my Windows Experience Index my screen goes black with colour boxes and i have to restart computer. Screen goes black when windows try to test Graphics 3D performance. I experienced it in some games too, it happens when graphic card tries to change mode from 2d to 3d (when screen is blinking after entering game). Earlier, after clean 7100 install i did't have that problems. I don't think thats my PSU problem, because i'm playing many new games and computer is working fine. As i said it only happens when graphic card is changing modes. System is 64 bit, i have newest 9.10 catalyst drivers. Graphic card is Radeon 4850 Gainward Golden Sample.
Any solutions? | My System Specs

Try to locate a driver for your monitor(s) and install. Probably won't help. Can't hurt. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

I see what you're saying.
I don't like the looks of that, even if it only happens very briefly. Might mean failed or failing component on the card. That is the type of distortion that can happen in that case. I had something similar on an NVidia 6200A-LE with blown capacitors. I replaced them and card is still functioning well today.
If it is still within warranty, show that picture to the vendor of your particular card. Perhaps they will agree to an RMA and you will receive a new card.
You've got nothing to lose by trying except a little time writing brief, friendly e-mails to them or whatnot.
Good luck. Please let us know if you do this, because I'm very curious as to what they would say and do about it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

Thanks for fast reply. Yes, it's still within warrantly. I was thinking about that, but firstly i have to check card under other system, because sending card to repair means that i will be 2-3 weeks without my main computer. In that case i'll install Vista 64-bit today or tommorow. I'll tell you how's my Radeon under vista. | My System Specs

In some instances, you can provide a credit card number to them as colaterral. They will send you a new unit immediately. Once they receive the one you send them, they no longer hold your card info as colaterral.
You could ask them to do this for you, if they in fact, agree to RMA and your testing fails. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 Ati 4850 problems problems?
