I have Dell Optiplex 260 (Ram - 2 GB), When I install win 7 (32 Bit), it is not supporting the resolution. I need to get Video Card. Can i get the same in that below link.... Please respond me, it would be appreciated.....

    Newegg.com - ECS N8400GS2-512DS-F GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit DDR2 PCI HDCP Ready Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
I would like to thank Torrentg for their post because now my very frustrating problem has been solved. I thought I would share my experience here just in case someone finds it useful.

I have also installed windows 7 onto a Dell Optiplex GX260 and was frustrated when it would not let me change the resolution of the monitor. It was stuck on a low resolution.

Firstly I tried downloading the correct driver for the monitor but it made no difference. Then I tried numerous "driver scanner" and "driver fixer" type tools and they did not help at all. In fact, some of the tools would not run becuase they said my resoution was too low !

I tried the dell site and the microsoft site but none of their tools would help.

After much research on numerous forums I realised that I needed to find out what kind of video card I had since windows was not detecting it. Windows was saying that it was a standard vga adapter. One post somewhere told me that I had to press F2 while my computer was booting to enter setup mode to find out. I did that and it revealed that it was "Intel Corp VGA Adapter".

When I saw Torrentg's post above I clicked on the link and tried downloading the first ATI Radeon driver on the list but it would not install. I wasn't sure why Radeon was being recommended but I was willing to try anything. I did not know what 'compatibility mode' meant but a quick search told me that I needed to right mouse click on the exe I was about to run and choose properties and then tell it to run in xp compatibility mode before I ran it. I tried installing it again in this mode but no luck.

I was just about to give up when I thought I would try downloading the second one on the list which was "Intel 82845g ...". I downloaded the first executable (r126990.exe) and then I ran it in compatibily mode and it installed and restarted my computer and I nearly fell over when the RESOLUTION WAS FIXED ! I am so happy right now !

Thank you to every one who takes the time to put their wisdom on the internet !
