ATI Radeon Xpress 200 -- Windows update keeps replacing it with VGA

Running Windows 7 Ultimate on a HP Pavilion a1423w which has an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Series graphics card installed following these directions: ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Windows 7 Aero Fix - Hardware - Winxperts Forums

but Windows Update, every time updates are installed, does a swapperoo from that driver with a generic VGA driver reverting my resolution to 600x800, losing all Aero, and losing my 287 video memory down to a 8bit VGA and I have to either roll back the driver or follow those instructions again if roll back driver is grayed out.

how do I stop Windows Update from doing this once and for all?

Hide the update, don`t let windows install it.

If you don`t already, you should have windows update set to, Inform you of updates but let you choose to download and install them.

Windows should not be installing anything without your permission
