I have a second monitor, but no signal.

I have a second monitor plugged into my computer. I'm using the first one just fine, but my scond one isn't detecting anything at all. I should note that I use this: http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Converter-...to+vga+adapter
My card is one from the Intel 4800 series, powerul, but old. Can someone help me troubleshoot?

Hello and welcome Instant mate have you updated the driver for the card? I cannot find a driver for it and I suspect this is an age related problem.

Also mate we need some system specs to work with as you have listed the OS as California and I am guessing it is Windows 7 of some version. So please let us know the specs.

Yes, I've got the updates drivers. I suspect that my card only supports one monitor, but it's got 3 video ports. One HDMI, DVI, and a Display Port. My grandfather, who gave me this card said two monitors are supported.

That converter you referenced is for converting VGA to HDMI. You don't have VGA output on that card or am I missing something?

If you're using another adaptor/cable for DVI to VGA, it MUST be DVI-A (analog) or DVI-I (analog and digital) to work. The VGA signals are analog only so the DVI cable must pick up the analog signal.

Scratch that. The Amazon listing was a little confusing. It's HDMI to VGA so I take it your monitor is VGA?

Mate the ATI site is so hard to find info on that GPU but I did find this and from it does support two screens as this member found it does and was after running a TV as well - good luck for that

It is an old post and I think the last post in this thread says it all really only not that you wanted to hear that I am assuming.
Dual Monitors + 1 TV, Possible on 4800 Series?
