Windows 7 64Bit Driver issues for the Radeon HD6770M Video Card

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this issue I am having.

I have a HP Pavilion Dv7 laptop with a Radeon HD6770M Video card and when I installed the initial drivers after doing a factory restore on my laptop the video card showed the HD6770M in the device manager. Once I updated the drivers using the driver update utility from AMD the card now shows up as the HD6700M which is messing with video and games. This is really becoming an issue because I cannot update the Intel HD graphics drivers as well.

Any help with getting these drivers working correctly would be greatly appreciated.

(I should have sufficient system setup info in my system on the forums. If not let me know)

Try installing the drivers from the HP site.

    Dude said:

HP did not have the latest drivers and certain programs wouldn't work and needed newer drivers than those available through HP.

Barring another system restore I cannot get the drivers to reconize HD6770M rather than HD6700M even when i try to go backwards with the drivers. I have tried everything and get out of date drivers if I just use the drivers from HP.

On another not when I go to manually set the driver of the video card I want to install the HD6770M does not show up in the list.

Rollback of drivers was successful I have the HD6770M drivers installed. The trick now is to update the drivers without it switching to the HD6700M drivers. Any suggestions?

Did you find a fix for the INTEL card not updating? I had to install the AMD CCC (Catalyst Control Center) to recognize that my drivers were out of date. HP device manager DOES NOT say the drivers are out of date, Device Manager says my graphics drivers are up to date. THEY ARE NOT.

After running AMD CCC, it showed that my version 8.xxx.xxx (which was installed in 2011) needed to be updated to version 14.xxx.xxx (update in 9/14)

The AMD 6770M IS updating to the newest driver.
The INTEL card is NOT -

when going into the device manager, its showing there was installation of the new driver ERROR.

Im trying to update to OPEN GL so that I can use my new photo editing software.

I had to go into BIOS and select FIXED as opposed to DYNAMIC (which is DUAL actually)

Which allowed somehow the AMD driver to be recognized.

I ran DXDIAGNOSTICS to see if there were any issues, and it doesn't show ANYTHING WRONG.

I cannot run my newest photo editing software without OPEN GL - I can't disable the INTEL card because my entire laptop screen goes blank - and I plug into my monitor / television with HDMI cable and resolution is 640 x 480 - looks like safe mode. But, it will NOT allow me in inscrease screen resolution, the highest it will go is 1240 x 900 which I only run 1980 x 1020..

    I need a fix.

    Did you find one?

    Thank you!!!
