Graphic driver fails but only online

I'm currently using the onboard graphics in my Gateway GT5656. The chipset is 6150SE (NVidia). The graphics are fine until I go online. then, eventually, they will fail, with either a Display Driver Failure, or the screen going all blurry so that it's impossible to read anything. As I said, offline this doesn't happen. I'm wondering if I can adjust some settings to make things more stable. Thanks,

    Michael

Maybe if you could get an Update Driver for your Graphics that would help ..

That means Updating the Chipset Driver ... I looked on the Gateway Website ..

They do not even have a Driver for your Chipset ..

Go to the Device Manager .. Click on System Devices ...

What Version of the Chipset is listed ? ...

No, I have tried several update drivers, they always fail. Curiously, the drivers Windows found for my Vista drive in the same computer work. Another reason I prefer Vista over Seven.

Thank you for your help, Maxie. I can't tell if I have that driver, as only the date and "the other number" is listed in control panel (7.14.10.9687, 8/22/06). But the driver on the Vista drive (which I am currently on) is not a problem. It's the one on my W7X64 drive that has problems.

Unfortunately, that driver won't install on Windows 7.

    Try the following ...

Right Click the driver installation file and select Properties/Compatibility Tab. Select Vista

    3. Click Apply/OK.

    4. Right Click the file and select the Run As Administrator option to install.

Maxie, I tried this but could not make it work. In the meantime, I have installed Firefox, as I have this on my other W7 drive, and have no problems with the graphics. So it may be that IE does not do well on my computer for some reason.
