I emailed the picture to myself & copied it.
From Dell site. Recommended video cards. Don't want to spend $200!

The computer guy told me I should get an AGP card. ??? He talks to me like I know what he's talking about, and if I ask questions, he launches into geek-speak and looks at me like I'm an idiot.
Now I really am in over my head.
Okay turn it sideways now
Looks like it's narrow as the image on the Newegg showed :/
Did it come with a low profile plate ?
I wouldn't expect Dell to have any deals,
Issue might be the card you got is Not a low profile ready card there is no screw on the face on that image post the other profile image to make sure,
Cheers.
Great Halloween sig, ThrashZone...
Dell has this one that is sold as a fit for my computer. I could try to find it on Newegg:
VisionTek Radeon HD 6350 SFF graphics card - Radeon HD 6350 - 1 GB : Parts & Upgrades | Dell
A lot of the problem is that I don't exactly understand the difference between cards that are sold as "low profile" & "low profile ready." The MSI I have now is "low profile," so I'm assuming that I don't want to get another one of those. If I were able to just lay it down into my PC, it would fit. But it has to fit through that slot, and it's too wide. I don't think I can take anything off of it to make it fit.
I know you need to take the silver plate off and put a smaller one on it instead,
They almost never come with the small plate installed on it,
You can go to Radio shack/ Fry's just about any electronic store and ask them take the card with you tell them it too long
It came with two bracket-looking things...
Long? Do you mean wide?
I just bought two of these Zotac nVidia GeForce GT640 PCI-E cards for $59.99 each with FREE shipping from NewEgg last week. They arrived yesterday. I put one in an older Dell XPS for a friend. It seems to work just fine. It comes with 2 short brackets for a low profile case if needed. It does not need an extra power cord for the card.

The op has a low profile card already,
I don't believe he knows how to put the short brackets on :/

OK, now I see what needs to be done. And you're right, ThrashZone. My computer guy here at the condo does not ever admit that he is wrong or that he can't do something. So it looks like I can actually use the one I bought, right? I just take the silver plate off & put one of the brackets that came with the card in its place. Then I don't have to fit it into the slot; I can just drop it into place, right? The video was really helpful. Thank you.
Do I have to disable my computer completely to do this?
