Well, he MSI arrived today. Hopefully, I can get it installed over the week-end and let y'all know if it's any good. If it's not, I'm trying the one you have, ThrashZone. Or try to figure out the difference between the one I have & the one posted by AddRAM. I don't know enough to tell the difference.

Where did you find it ?
    I do like asus :)
I'm not sure how AddRam found that one but it's another good one pretty narrow card :)
Sometimes the images of the cards are misleading I know the one I have will fit like a glove and so far no issues to report,

Fan noise reviews are mostly exaggerated which I hate when people exaggerate :/

Windows update will install all drivers but you will need to check for newer ones
There's a great tutorial on how to load the utility to check for newer drivers without all of the extra stuff from asus for features your machine isn't compatible with :)
    Update in a little bit.

Thanks for the tips on those drivers. Good info.
I found the cheapo version of that MSI at Newegg. I've have nothing but good interaction with them.
I was wondering about the noisy fan issue. It's weird that the less expensive card would elicit fewer fan-noise issues. I agree that people do too much exaggerating, also one of my pet peeves! No way to get an honest review when people veer off into craziness.

Most of the time people push the cards to much,
They expect the moon for a fraction of the price of a read card inside a real gaming computer of which they have neither
Just don't push it your system like mine is Not a gaming computer
    Cheers.

I don't do any gaming at all, so I don't think I'll push this cheapie too much. I don't watch videos on this PC, either. Just hoping to improve the overall operation of my antique!

Well it should improve video quality and give you options to use multiple displays and some more game options if you want to just don't expect to play them all day and monitor the temperatures closely if you do,
These little cases all you really need to do is touch the top of it to know when it's getting Hot
But after you get it installed take note of your wei and post the difference

It was too wide to fit into the slot. There was obviously a place for it, but there was no way to get it into the unit. So, it's going back. I dug into the Dell site and found their recommendations for my particular computer. There may be one I can use from that list.

Take a picture of it as if from the back of the computers view,
    Just like this,
    Attachment 338293
For the record the silver plate needs to come off to make it into a low profile card,
The dvi and hdmi ports are on the same row,
The blue tipped vga goes under the other two,
In other words the three ports are on a separate row,
If you have a cable t.v. port it needs to come out and the vga port replaces it,
    Cheers.

I took the photo, but I can't get it on the forum. I have limited skills, as you have likely surmised. I saved the picture to my desktop, as I couldn't figure out how to get it into My Pictures. But the message board does not recognize the picture when I select "browse" in the "go advanced" option. I'll keep trying.
