Windows 7 Ultimate Edition
Display issues

Can someone help explain what might be happening with my system?
I installed my Window 7 Ultimate Edition both the 32bit and 64 bit version(separete times not at the same time) and i keep having the same issues. The welcome screen and exit screen are all choppy and pixelated. The Permission to install or do anything dialog box is also the same. I have contacted microsoft and they tell me to do all these different things and when they seem to run out of ideas my screen is all messed up ad i have to reinstall windows again. They keep telling me it's something to do with my graphic card but wouldn't i have this problem all over and not just in these three spots? Ever since i installed the rc edition i have been having this problem. i thought it was something in the beta version and i would fix it self when i upgraded to a full blown version. I love Windows 7 but i wish i could fix these few problems.

Check video card for blown, leaky capacitors. Or capacitors with rounded tops instead of flat.

"but wouldn't i have this problem all over and not just in these three spots?"

Definitely not necessarily.

If you attempt to replace cap(s), get same value/rating (or v slightly higher) and low esr type. Replace all that are of the same type as blown one(s), even if they look good.

Also try your dvi/vga cord, It has happened to me, changed out my GC thinking it was it and still had prob, If you can take GC and put it in a different computer see if it still does it, But try cord first, took me hours before i tried this one simple thing.

Definitely a good suggestion. But the age of card has me wondering....

HFMan, do you have onboard integrated graphics adapter on motherboard to try?

Also make sure your drivers are up-to-date.
