    Dual screen problem

    Hello!

I have recently just reinstalled my computer after getting a new SSD. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on the SSD.

With the exact same setup (except for the SSD and the Windows version (I went from Windows 7 basic to Windows 7 Ultimate)) I didnt have any problems before the reinstall.

The problem: I have two screens, a Dell Alienware 2210 connected to my graphics card (Nvidia Geforce GTX 670) with a DVI kable, and a LG 24MP55HQ-P (IPS) screen connected with HDMI (screen does not have a DVI input).
As I stated earlier, these two screens worked fine as dual monitors before the reinstall.

The reinstalling went fine, I installed drivers for my GFX card, motherboard ect.
But windows only starts up with my Dell. It does not see my LG at all in the device manager, or when I try to 'detect' it in the screen resolution settings. My Nvidia drivers do not detect it either.

What I have tried to do to fix it:
HDMI kable and HDMI entrance in the GFX card work fine, attached same HDMI kable to Dell and it started up fine.
LG screen works fine and HDMI entrance in the screen, I started the LG screen up with HDMI cable to my PS3.
When I detach my Dell and only attach my LG with HDMI, and then restart my PC I see my motherboard logo start up on screen, and Windows logo. I can also enter my BIOS. The screen goes black the second Windows gets to the login screen, and then 'no signal' procedes till I reattach my Dell.

The monitor does not have any handy drivers, and I didn't need them before the reinstall.

This is about the most retarded and wierd problem I have seen in my days of having IT problems.
Hope you can make some sensen of it!

    Thanks in advance

I am planning to try a DVI to HDMI converter tomorow to see if the screen will be detected in a second DVI slot, but I doubt this will work.

Did you try using this configuration (LG alone with HDMI) and start in Safe Mode?

Have you run all rounds of windows update ?

Have you installed the latest drivers for the 670 from nvidia.com ?

There should be no reason you can`t use the hdmi cable on the one monitor and the dvi cable on the other. There should be no need for any adaptors.

I installed Windows 8.1 instead of Windows 7, that seemed to fix the problemen. Maybe my Windows was corrupted.
