Windows Screen Saver wont work and i cant find the cause

    hi all.

i have just freshly formateed and re-installed Windows 7 on my pc inorder to find whymy sleep and screen saver/timeouts are not working.

i havve tried to trouble shoot it, and come up with nothing. it is currently a bare bones system, with windows, MoBo Drivers and latest windows updates. that it. and it still wont work.

    command prompt gives this
    Code:
    C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -devicequery wake_armed
    HID-compliant mouse
    Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
    Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
    HID Keyboard Device
    and this

    Code:
    C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -requests
    DISPLAY:
    None.

    SYSTEM:
    None.

    AWAYMODE:
    None.
it is currently installing some updates, but that shouldnt effect the screen saver comming on.

any other sugestions on what i can try to find out what is stopping it from working?

    Jason

i have also just tried a different KB and Mouse. still wont enter screen saver. but if i click preview, it works there, so there is nothing on that side stopping it. task manager shows system idle process at 99% and im not to sure what to look for in process monitor to see what could be causing it.
