    PC not recognizing unplugged HDMI

    Hey there,
I am having a bit of an issue with my graphics card, or so what I think it is.

I have two monitors one through HDMI and the other through VGA and I extend my displays.
My main monitor (with task bar with time and stuff)would be on my HDMI and my second monitor (I use for documents and Skype) is through my VGA.

A couple of weeks ago when I pulled out my HDMI, my PC used to recognize that I unplugged it and put my main monitor on my VGA however now, I have to restart my PC for it to recognize that the HDMI is out and no longer in use.

My Graphics card has the latest driver, and this is what I am thinking the issue is.

    Graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 650

Does anyone know the reason why this is happening, any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi my opinion is you should always turn off computer before unplugging any plugging in cables for the monitors.

Yeah I suppose, but it would recognize that my HDMI isn't plugged in and my main monitor (start button and taskbar icons and time) would go on my second monitor.

I'm not sure what has changed to stop it from working but nvm.

The HDMI port sensor may have been damaged by the act of plugging or unplugging with the power on.
