Dual Monitors won't work together

Hello,

I have a home-built computer with an integrated video card on the motherboard and a secondary video card installed as well. I have a ViewSonic VA1930wm connected to the VGA on the motherboard and an LG 23EA63 connected to the HDMI on the secondary video card. (Sorry, I don't recall what brand the secondary is - though, I want to say it's an Nvidia.)

Originally, when I first connected the LG, both monitors worked - though, the display was duplicated. After installing the necessary software and drivers and restarting the computer, only the LG (connected to the HDMI) would work.

At this point, I can see both monitors on the display properties page - but, although I can edit settings for both, only the LG works. If I turn off the ViewSonic and then turn it back on, it says "No Signal - Analog". However, it seems like the system is recognizing that the display is there as the mouse disappears off the side of the LG when I move it to the next display.

Any ideas why the second display wouldn't recognize a signal when it was working fine before I had connected the LG? Is the integrated VGA incompatible with an aftermarket, non-integrated HDMI?

Hi usually when you add a card it will disable the onboard video. Hook both monitors to the add in card. Use an adapter if you have too.

Ahh... That would explain it. I'll have to see if I can track down a VGA to DVI adapter, then.

Fixed!

I ran both monitors through the VGA and HDMI provided on the on-board video card and they work just fine. For some reason, I hadn't noticed that there WERE multiple video outputs on the on-board card - which is why I had used an aftermarket card in the first place. Stupid of me.

Thanks for the help!

A dedicated video card is usually better then on board video.

What make and model is the video card (not the motherboard)
