Windows 7: 8800 GTS incorrectly displaying resolutions

Monitor INF driver

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running"

This is what I hate about computer technology. My 11 year old car is still serviceable, you can still order parts for it and stuff, but in computer terms a 9 year old monitor is like bringing a horse & buggy into the mechanic.

Bah, I should get a new monitor one of these days anyway. The scanlines are actually starting to droop down as if from gravity. Was kind of hoping I could wait out the LCD technology phase though.

Force install it using the device manager. Extract from the .exe first.

This part may or may not be necessary:
"Click anywhere first in device manager then
View | show hidden devices "

Do this:

Right click monitor. Update driver software. Browse. Let me pick. Browse. Have disk. Browse. Double click on the .inf and hit ok.

Re-read. Follow instructions and click on the .inf as part of the process. I made a slight correction.

Yeah, it still says that though.

If you click on the .inf and point directly to it, it will not say that about a folder. If it gives any other error, the .inf is incorrect for the monitor.

Alright, but look at the OS supported in the link you placed. There are no x64 of those.
