Radeon Mobility HD 4570 Not working after win 7 upgrade

    Hi

A few teething problems with Windows 7... I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 7535G with Vista - it has two graphics cores - an onboard 3200HD for low power stuff and a more powerful HD 4570. These are controlled by Catalyst Control Centre (CCC) and worked fine...

...until I upgraded to Windows 7

    - Now Power Express does not seem to recognise either cards although the 3200 appears to be working. When I check the hardware section of the computer, both cards are recognised, but a fault is diagnosed with the 4500 series card - it says the card cannot start - code 10 error

The cards are supposed to switch automatically when the computer is plugged into / out of mains power.

I have downloaded the most recent versions of CCC and the most recent ATI drivers but this has not rectified the problem.

I need the 4570 card. Has anyone experienced similar / suggest a solution??

    Hi.

Update the driver(s) through the device manager. Right click on the video adapters, update driver software.

Install any special power drivers that may help to switch gpu in use, from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

There is also a brand new bios you can install. Helpful for things like this.

    Hi torrent G,

Thanks for all the advice. I have just tried all that - new drivers, new bios and still not working.

The ACER guys said to clean install Windows 7, but I am not confident this will do anything other than shut down a load of other programs.

Contemplating going back to Vista...rubbish :-(

    Any other ideas??

Same problem here. You'd really expect Acer to test these upgrades before telling us all the laptop's "eligible".

I did mine on a clean install too, so try the Acer guys again and tell them it didn't work! I've contacted them as well but yet to hear back (did it by e-mail).

Download the desktop version of the driver from ATI's site for Windows 7. Extract to C:\ATI and leave that there for later. Search while in C:\ATI (top right) for *.inf.

Then upload the .infs after using Winrar on them. Attach to a post.

Right click the video card in device manager. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste the results here. (Do this for both video adapters.)

I'll get this to work for you guys, with instructions.

Hey Seb - thanks for the advice, at least you saved me a clean install! If you get a response from Acer will you let me know? Still waiting on a response from the email I sent them...

Torrent G - appreciate the support. I will try to follow instructions above and post the results

Sorry I should have made clear, but the Aspire is a notebook not a desktop. I have downloaded the following driver from the ATI website. Please let me know if this is incorrect, there is no option for a dedicated "desktop driver":

    Graphics Drivers & Software

    Windows 7 -- 32 bit --- Mobility Radeon --- HD 4000 series

(Note, device manager says the 3200 is working fine)
    -----------------------------------------

I completed the search and there were two .inf files listed. I have attached them both.

    Hardware ids -

For the Mobility Radeon HD 4570:
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9553&SUBSYS_02371025&REV_00
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9553&SUBSYS_02371025
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9553&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9553&CC_0300

    For the Radeon HD 3200
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9612&SUBSYS_02361025&REV_00
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9612&SUBSYS_02361025
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9612&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9612&CC_0300

    -------------

Let me know if you need anything else or if I have done anything incorrectly. Really appreciate your help here

    Thanks

    H.

Yeah Mr. Pipe, I meant the desktop version. But we can try with this anyhow.

Download my attachment and extract from it. Copy and paste C7_87751.inf over the original inside C:\ATI somewhere. Make sure you choose "copy and replace" when it asks.

Then, go to the device manager and right click on the 4570. Update driver software. Browse my computer. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Now find the C7_87751.inf where you copied and pasted to. Double click on it. Hit ok and maybe next then...let it install to completion.

Reboot and tell us how it went.

Unfortunately I didn't get to reboot stage - followed your steps above but it told me that the file was not compatible with 32 bit windows 7? See attached file. Also slightly strange you can see that the system lists two 4570 graphics cards - one of which has something called WDDM
