Problem with resolution

Hey guys, I have a problem with drivers (not sure) for my laptop. I have installed the newest driver from Intel's site, but there is no resolution 1280 Now, I'm with 1024x768 and it's very "ugly" How can I repair resolution (now, i have only 800 and 1024)?

In device manager what is listed as the display adapter? Clicking on your display adapter>properties>details>drop down menu>hardware Id>copy and paste the results. It sounds like you are using a standard vga driver.

This is a Toshiba laptop? Can you provide the model number for us? I want to make sure you have the proper driver installed. It looks like you do.

Similar Problem

Hello, I have a similar problem - searching these forums, I see a lot of people mentioning this kind of thing, I'm not certain any are exactly the same as mine, but this seems the closest.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop, bought about a year and a half ago with Vista, just yesterday used the student download version of 7 to do a custom install. It's all gone fine, everything is working perfectly well, except now my monitor won't show the right resolution. The only two options it is giving me in the 'Screen Resolution' window are 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768. I don't know a lot about resolutions, but I have a widescreen monitor, and I'm pretty sure the resolution used to be 1200 x something, or maybe even more. As it is, stuck in 1024 x 768, everything looks stretched too wide, and too blurry/chunky. I immediately thought 'best update the drivers', but the automatic update is telling me I already have the best drivers installed, and I don't know how to find out what monitor/graphics card I actually have, because in device manager etc. they are simply showing up as 'generic pnp monitor' and 'standard vga graphics adapter'. Is there any way I can work this out to find the right drivers, or is there another way round this problem?

Thanks!

Welcome tjm to seven forums. In the search box type Dxdiag and open the file, it will tell you what hardware you have. Fabe

Thanks Fabe, I did that, and it says there "Name: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and "Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor". Does this just mean that that's what I have, or is there some information missing? It also says "Chip Type: ATI ATOMBIOS", researching this problem I looked at ATI drivers, but there were many to choose from, and I didn't know which would be the right one.
