want to add a second monitor using different resolution to existing.

I have an i5 processor with Asus P8P67 MB using a AMD Radeon 6670 graphic card with Samsung 226BW monitor at resolution of 1680 x 1050. I want to add a second graphics card and an AOC Q2770pqu 27" monitor running at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 to make an extended desktop. Is this possible (running 2 separate resolutions on 2 different monitors) and if so what graphics card(s) would I need. I appreciate I may need to replace the Radeon 6670 and buy two new cards. I am not into gaming, but do a lot of photo editing.
    Many Thanks, Pete Berry

According to this AMD page the 6670 can drive -

    display port 2560 x 1600
    HDMI 1920 x 1200
    dual link DVI 2560 x 1600
    vga 2048 x 1536

so you'll need to check out your monitor ports

dual monitors with different resolutions on extend (one big desktop) is easy, ditto on clone can be a bit more tricky. A second screen is a good upgrade IMHO, esp if like me you do a lot of graphics. I use a GTX 750 Ti and 2 x 27" 1080px monitors.

Hi ThrashZone, I've been looking at that one in the UK. Looks to be a good solution to replace the Radeon which is getting a bit tired.
    Thanks,

re GTX 750 Ti - for reasons I've never understood, the same gfx card from different suppliers can sometimes be a bit different. Some folk claim their 750 Ti can take its power from the slot, whereas mine needs an aux 12V connector. The spec says card 60W, min psu 300W (although I use a 750W psu). I've even seen other 'identical' cards from diff suppliers with different port configurations.

Just a 'heads-up' for the OP, as they say.
