ATI HDTV Wonder and windows update

Windows 7 and the ATI HDTV Wonder - AnandTech Forums

I see I can get this to work.
I bought the card thinking it would.

Is there a way to get the driver from windows update off the web itself so I can have a copy on the HD?

for example here I got the vbox driver, came as a google search

You're going to need to provide a good deal more precise and specific information about what hardware you actually have, what software you want to use to watch TV (presumably that's what you want to do), etc., if we're to be able to help you acceptably.

Exactly WHAT is the model of the ATI TV Wonder card you have? What do you expect its capabilities are, and what/how do you intend to (or desire to) use it??

What do you you plan to (or want to) use as your TV recording/viewing DVR-like software?? Windows Media Center? BeyondTV? ATI Catalyst Media Center? Some other product? What??

What is your own computer hardware? Please complete your Specs so that we know what your machine looks like.

ATI 109-A10000-00 All-In-Wonder E117942 PCI TV Tuner Card
ATI 109 A10000 00 All in Wonder E117942 PCI TV Tuner Card Tested Working | eBay

Looking at his picture, it is an ATI HDTV Wonder PCI

What do you expect its capabilities are, and what/how do you intend to (or desire to) use it??

I expect it to watch HDTV OTA ATSC and also record HDTV.

What do you you plan to (or want to) use as your TV recording/viewing DVR-like software?? Windows Media Center?

I plan to use it in WMC, windows 7.

What is your own computer hardware?

This PC is a pentium 4 3.0 ghz 800 fsb, 1gb ddr ram, gigabit LAN, HD2600 pro amd video card.
It can watch recorded TV from my LAN linked WMC downstairs TV perfectly. It can also watch Netflix perfectly.
    MB is PM8M-V MSI. 32 bit win7

I did find many possible driver links on Microsofts update catalog site,
here is what I found so far about this working in windows 7.
I saved links to what might be good.

Perhaps just need 2 of these, the DTV tuner and the BDA driver

Do you actually have the card physically installed in your computer yet? If it's installed, can you provide the "hardware ID" from Device Manager? The 109-A10000-00 E117942 is not a real designation of the particular MODEL of the All-In-Wonder card. ATI make many versions of this card, but you need to provide that actual "model" to have any chance of finding related software on the ATI/AMD driver site.

Also, that card is probably so old it might only work on WinXP, not Win7. But again, the actual "model" of the card needs to be known to get started searching properly.

Do you have Win7 32-bit installed on this computer, or 64-bit? I'm guessing 32-bit.

But in reality your PC is very VERY small (memory wise), and very old. You already have a video card in it, and a VERY OLD SLOW video card at that. You don't need another graphics card. Plus, I honestly can't imagine running a Win7 machine with WMC in 1GB of memory. Seems like it might be time for an upgrade all around.

The ATI All-In-Wonder card was a combination graphics card and TV Tuner card, and is probably 8 years old. If you want to try and use your old PC as a second WMC machine you should try and find a compatible TV tuner card (e.g. an old ATI TV Wonder 650 PCI TV 1-tuner card, which I have one I'd be glad to sell you as I've long ago replaced it with a Hauppauge 2-tuner HVR-2250 PCIe card in my new machine) which I know DOES work on Win7 with WMC. But you're really underpowered on that machine of yours.

Can't provide any more help without the particular "model" of your AIW card, and/or the "hardware ID" from Device Manager if you've got it in your machine right now.

The wonder card will be here in a few days, so I will post back.
This is only a tuner, not having any video, so not an all in wonder.
The tuner does ATSC and NTSC, of course NTSC is dead now.
    It is win 32 bt.
My feeling is it will work as others have also said in various forums.

I have linked this PC wmc to the other downstairs PC wmc, which means it will use the other pc's wmc recorded tv for storage. So the small 80gb hard drive is not an issue as it will use the other pc 1 TB for watching and recording TV.

It certainly can watch just fine recorded TV that was recorded on the downstairs PC right in WMC, all the shows are there showing up on both PC's.

Should just be a driver install for it to work, finding the right driver may be the problem. I did a ATI usb tv tuner, driver and program installed and it ran great, media player found it without problem. Gave me about 30 online channels.

That eBay description is for a member of the All-In-Wonder family of cards (combined graphs and TV tuner), not one the TV Wonder cards which were tuner-only. So I wouldn't be so sure until the card arrived.

In any case, before replacing my single-tuner ATI TV Wonder 650 PCI card (for OTA/ATSC use originally with BeyondTV under WinXP, and then later with WMC x64 under Win7) the appropriate Win7 drivers were obtained from the standard ATI/AMD driver download page by specifying the combination of (1) system: TV tuner products, (2) product family: TV tuner series, (3) your product: TV Wonder 650 Pro Series, and (4) supported OS: Win7 64-bit, for me.

The resulting search pointed to the ATI Theater Video Driver that supported a handful of most recent TV Tuner cards (not the older ones, but the newer ones) under Win7 32/64-bit. In particular my 650 PCI card was supported, thankfully. This is the driver which is specifically for a family of recent ATI TV Tuner cards, not All-In-Wonder cards. It works perfectly with WMC.

Your card, once you receive it, may well NOT be supported especially if it is truly an All-In-Wonder card as the eBay listing shows. Certainly doesn't look like my own TV Wonder 650 PCI card.

Doing a similar attempted search for proper drivers for an All-In-Wonder product, we come back to that point I asked about previously. Namely, what MODEL of card is this... not its serial number or UPC code. And very few of the All-In-Wonder cards had support in Win7. The older ones ceased being supported beyond WinXP, or possibly Vista.

And besides, you already have another graphics card (HD2600) in that machine. I believe the All-In-Wonder cards are not targeted for machines that already have a graphics card, since they provide BOTH graphics and TV support themselves.

Nevertheless, use the AMD driver download site to see if you can find the correct driver for Win7 x86 to meet your needs.

If you look at the picture of this item, you can see there is no video output such as vga or dvi.
    All it has is
    coax for atsc
    coax for ntsc
svideo break out plug, the card is also a capture card which uses one of those multi cables with svideo, composite, stereo sound, perhaps component video too.

remote eye blaster thing for a remote control?

If this guy sends me something other than what the picture shows, I will open a case.
found a nice review on this card

Hope you noticed the date of that review, June 22, 2004.

Also if that is what the card is then there is zero Windows 7 (or Vista for that matter) support for it, with the last driver being for XP from 2006,

HDTV Wonder? Drivers and ATI Multimedia Software for Windows XP Professional/Home Edition - December 2006

Another thing is if I am not mistaken, it won't work with Windows 7 even if you can get the XP driver to install.

It works or all those people who posted that it does work in win7 lied.

I also have a vbox usb 3560 which works in 64 bit win7 but there are no win7 drivers for it, just xp drivers..
