hi..should i install the ati catalyst 10.2 hotfix or the 9.12 hotfix? I currently am using 10.3 drivers, and i am having the same lagging/black screen/big mouse problem.
kitkatsavvy,
I don't have that problem although similar. My mouse freezes, it does not get larger, and the whole system freezes. The main screen shrinks slightly too. I have to pull the power wait about a minute and reboot. Its totaly random, happens after seconds or hours....
I have now sent the Asus 5770 for rma.
I bought a cheap £30 5450 and it is silent and can't see any difference in performance, although I do not play games. It is just for True hd audio and hd video. £100 cheaper!!
But guess what! The pc still froze....
It might not be the graphic card.
So far I have :
Checked and swaped ram and ran mem test.
Done a clean install of windows 7x64
I have RMA'd the psu,motherboard,graphic card.
Checked for over heating
Flashed bios.
Its crazy...The only thing it can be is the cpu or driver related, I have all the latest drivers. The cpu was fine before I upgraded my motherboard.
Could the hot fix solve this??Can anyone help??Could the asus AI auto settings in bios be the problem?I have tried different voltages but it still freezes! So I have it all on default.
well guys, i installed the 9.12 driver with the hotfix, and i am having no problems at all! i am suspecting that it is the new drivers that are fault.. so uninstall your current driver, then download the catalyst 9.12 hotfix (comes with the old driver). i hope nothing goes wrong, and amd is still replying to my problem.
Well, after a lot of crashing and reading forums I eventually found a fix that brought my daily crashes down to around 1 per month... I increased the PCI latency to 128 (twice what it had been, effectively allowing the device twice the time for its instructions) It doesn't appear to have caused any other problems and my system ran great for quite a while....just the occasional crash (approx 1 per month). I have now installed the cat 10.3 which is now available and hope that this is the end to the HD5770 problems.
Barney7576,
Where is the pci latency in the ami bios?Is it under ai tweaker or advanced? Many thanks i can not find it any where..
So I registered here just to post the solution to this issue. It was pissing me off and im sure the rest of you too. The problem comes from the gpu clock and memory clock being to low to push the accelerated 2d UI.
So here is how I fixed it, I found this info with my google-fu
I found that the gpu core will run the UI stable at 226MHz tho if 400 MHz is too high for you. Prior to doing this I had the display driver crashing every 20 minutes or so.Code:Here is the workaround: Open CCC and switch to ATI Overdrive Unlock and enable Overdrive Go to Options/Profiles/Profile Manager and create a new profile called, let's say, STABLE. Save the new profile. But DO NOT ACTIVATE the profile. Now go to C:\Users\{YourUserName}\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles folder ( I assume C: is your system drive ) Note: You should have " show hidden files " turned on to see the folder. Open the .xml file named STABLE with notepad. Change the values of the idle Core clock and Memory clock speeds below Feature name="CoreClockTarget_0" Property name="Want_0" value="40000" note: previous value should be "15700" Feature name="MemoryClockTarget_0" Property name="Want_0" value="90000" note: previous value should be "30000" Save the file and close it. Go back to CCC and activate the profile. This will make the card idle at 400 MHz core clock and 900 MHz memory clock.
Enjoy and Good luck.

i just checked and my MSI R5770 HAWK runs Aero with GPU @ 157 and memory @ 300. Cat 10.3. no problems whatsoever.
