    HD5970 to launch on Nov 18th

    Dual Radeon 5970 launches on the 18th


    ATI / AMD has finalized the Radeon HD 5970 spec. First and foremost, the card is scheduled to launch on the 18th, or this coming Wednesday and it will without a doubt be the fastest card for this Christmas.

    It has two RV870 GPUs clocked at 725MHz, which is some 125MHz less than on the single GPU Radeon HD 5870, but both chips have kept 1600 shaders. This means that Radeon HD 5970 has 3200 shaders and comes with 2GB GDDR5 memory.

    Maximum Board Power is 294W and the total GPU compute...

    this card is expected to launch @ $600 (no doubt £400 in the UK) ..... Nvidia are gonna miss the boat this time around im afraid....they're gonna loose a bunch of customers....

    Of course, if it's anything like the currently supply of ATI high-end video cards...you aren't going to be able to find one of these cards for about 6 months.

    Anybody here having any luck finding the 5850's or the 5870's??????

    i've found plenty..... newegg, tigerdirect, or compusa always has one in stock.....
    just no money to get one

    For that type of money ATI better make sure their drivers are in order, especially the crossfire part.

    At any rate i'm sure it's a nice card, but i'll hold on to my trusty 4890 and wait for round two.

    Well, I cannot find one. Did a search for a Radeon 5850/5870 at

    NewEgg: 4 (5850's) listed at $299.99...all out of stock 4 (5870's) at $399. Out of stock

    TigerDirect: No 5850's or 5870's even listed except for prebuilt system

    CompUSA: No 5850's or 5870's even listed except for prebuilt system

    Amazon: 5 (5850's) listed at $266-$315...all of out stock. 5 (5870's) at $399 all of out stock

    ZipZoomFly: 5 (5850's) listed at $289-$319...all out of stock. 6 (5870's) at $289-$440....all of out stock

    Yeah, I ordered one just before it came out (Sapphire 5850), when it was cheaper too! Since then they have gone pre-order only and £30 more expensive!

    It was quite an upgrade from my Radeon X850 XT..
