Screen resolution problem

I just put Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 600m PC, and turned the resolution down all the way (800 x 600).

This is what I get. How can I fix this?

See the attached image file.

We have a computer running Windows 7 with a Gateway LP1925 widescreen monitor. But the only screen resolutions available are 4:3. No driver is available at Gateway. Any ideas on how I can force a 16:9 resolution? I think the monitor's max. res. is 1600x900.
