Might be something obstructing it anyway. Take it out, very gentle shake it a little and see if you hear anything that sounds like something is moving in there, if so, try to get it out, see what it is. It's an awesome graphics card, I hope it's not broken.

Sidenote: Might want to take advantage of that warranty while it's still an option though. If you break something and then try for warranty they will know, lol.

Thanks for the quick respose..soon as i get home ill give it a little shake and find out..i fear that it could be the fan that has come unkiltered so when its spinning its not spinning perfectly horizontal :/ i really hope not because iv been told that fixing fans for GPU`s is a nightmare.

Do you think if thats the problem then switching the stock cooler could help?
If so do you have any recomendations for the 6870?
the only reason i dont wanna send it back is because in most cases it takes weeks! :/ and with me just getting dragon age 2 and shogun 2 my old gtx260 just isent good enough IMO lol.

yea its a fantastic card.. im usually a nvidea guy but took a shot on ATI and WOW!.. wasent expecting such high performance to price ratio tbh

If it is the fan replacing it should help yes, lol. Not sure how difficult it will be though, and if you break the card you're screwed. Cooler Master has a nice set to replace GPU coolers known as 'Cooler Master Coolink SWAP'. Not 100% sure if it'll fit though, look into it. If you're willing to spend some more look into coolers like the Deepcool V4000 or even the Deepcool V6000 (check out the attached image to see that beast). Deepcool's should fit pretty much all ATI cards just fine but be sure to ask where you're buying it from just in case.
