    Samsung CRT sp43t7hlx/shi - Resolution problems in w7


    Using a Sapphire HD4850 Toxic Edition 512mb card extended to a 43" monitor under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with Catalyst Control Center 9.11, connected via component. CCC doesn't provide any resolutions beyond 720x576p, except for 720i/p which never worked, so I can't use my usual resolution of 1024x768 that I used in XP for several years, in different installations.

    Any suggestions? I'm dying with this lame ass resolution.

    Has there any person not experiencing grief over resolutions from the lethal combo of Windows 7 and CCC. Everything was dandy on XP.

    You're connecting by component video and are blaming Widows 7 and/or CCC?

    Yes. Yes I am. I was able to run 1024x768 on 6 different installations of XP using the same cable and same gfx card. so yes, it is either ccc's fault or windows 7.

    Read my message first torrentg. I stated that I installed CCC 9.11. and yeah, latest drivers. so why am I a noob pray tell.

    I don't want to argue (for real.) Rather, I'm interested in sorting your issue. I aplogize. I think I get a little too defensive of Windows and ATI because I think they're both fantastic. I have yet to see an issue caused by them (MS, ATI, NVIDIA or Matrox) of this type of nature.

    Is your card a PCI-E or AGP?

    And is there any reason why you aren't connecting by DVI or HDMI cable?

    The issue is not Windows 7 or the Catalyst Converter but your monitor connection. I take it that your monitor connection is HDMI?
    You don't give us a lot of info for your issue. What type of flat screen are you using?

    ok let me clarify everything TV is a CRT Samsung brand as stated in the topic, connected by component, specific model being sp43t7hlx/shi. Card is PCI-Ex, Sapphire 512mb HD4850 toxic edition. This is the best connection my tv supports, otherwise I would surely go with the DVI/HDMI solution. Can I use the DVI adapter ATI released on newer cards like the HD4850?

    Surely the tv has an S-Video input, right?

    Connect by using an S-Video cable in this case. S-Video is much better than component.

    ok I tried s-video, this is like 70% worse graphics. Any component related solution? Any way to add custom resolutions to ccc registry perhaps?
