Dual Monitors-One Touchscreen One LCD-Older Video Card?

Whats up all, first post on the question that caused me to stumble on the forums. I like the forums BTW, very informative, lots of knowledge among the users.

My question is only partially covered by the chosen forum (so please correct of necessary) since there is no monitor forum, but hey, I'm halfway covered right?

Anyway, to the point. I plan on running multiple monitors with one being a touchscreen.

First off, is this even possible? The thought crossed my mind that if there was a visible cursor, the touchscreen might not "grab" it properly. I need to be able to use the touchscreen as a lauch pad of sorts, with my most common files \ shorcuts on it, touch, open, back to the old school monitor.

Or does having a touchscreen require ALL monitors to be touchscreen (it might delete the visible cursor.)

Second, can I still use my touchscreen monitor with the cursor (as if it was just a standard monitor?)

Lastly, can I run a touchscreen on an old (4-8mb) video card? I can't imagine needing more than 800x600 \ 16 bit. This will be a smaller monitor and really just used for a launch pad.

Anyway, thanks for the (future) help and I look forward to stopping by (once ASUS decides its time to mail the box!)

Lets start with your system specs. Especially your video card. Cause it's going to be a problem. Thanks Dual Monitors-One Touchscreen One LCD-Older Video Card?-usercp-1.png

All my hardware is more than capable, its more of a general question but...

    Core 2 Quad 2.33 ghz
    6 Gigs Ram
    NVidia GeForce G100
    -Samsung 20in 1600x900
    -Generic ~18in 1280x1024
    (future)
    Windows7 Home Premium 64 Bit
8-12in touchscreen + cheap \ old video card

    Did I miss anything important?

Welcome to seven forums override25: Just one thing, you see the My System Specs tag at the left bottom of you post? Well that is where everyone can go to see your specs at anytime. That is why I left the graphic on my post was to direct you to your user cp(top of your page) then to edit system specs and enter them their.
This way members wouldn't have to find this post to know or continue to ask for them. The other thing is a 4-8 mb video card may not be windows seven compatible, driver wise. Fabe

Now that I look back at your prior post I realize my mistake. First time I saw it, it blended in with your sig.

Makes sense that it might not be supported driver wise.

Anyone running a touchscreen alongside a standard monitor? Or should I repost that part of the question under general?

I think you should be able to since the touch screen requires a USB connection and a touch screen application. You could post the question in" Hardware & Devices". Might get a better response. Fabe
