    ATi Overdrive safe?

    Hi all!
Just wondering about ATi Overdrive - is it safe to allow it to OC my Radeon HD 4350? I'm using a 400W PSU and the card says it needs minimum 300W, so that should be alright, but can I still go ahead and let Overdrive do its work?

    Thanks in advance!

Overdrive is safe since it doesn't adjust any voltages- although do it manually as Autotune can be hit and miss. (Sets clocks higher than is actually stable)

Hmm, alright I'll give that a shot. Although...how can I be sure which is the safest settings? The cards standard clock speed is 600MHz and its memory is 400MHz. Sorry for the noobish questions - I'm confident in OC'ing CPU's but I've only touched the surface of GPU OC'ing.

every single card has a different overclocking potential - even cards made next to each other on the production line.

some (rare cards) may overclock 50%, some may fail at 5%.

set your overclock, and play some demanding games. if all seems groovy, go up another notch and try again. repeat until you get crashes or freezes, then crank it down a notch or two - the goal is maximum stabilty.

generally speaking, i've found that you can push the core speeds more than the memory speeds.

    good luck!

you'll get better results if you increase the fan speed, thereby cooling the gpu. it makes the card noisier, and may reduce its lifespan, but that's the price you pay.
