Not to be rude, but honestly, how can you buy a video card without knowing how to install the drivers or use Google? These are the first links if you search for "Radeon 9250"

Google Radeon 9250
Your card's page at the manufacturer: Radeon™ 9250 (Contains a link to your Catalyst drivers)
Catalyst/Drivers page: ATI Catalyst™
Hydravision(Which doesn't support spanning): Hydravision™

In order to "span" your desktop, which is what you are trying to do, you will need the Eyefinity software from ATI and a card that supports it. Windows 7 only supports Extending" your desktop. The 5xxx series of ATI cards supports spanning under Windows 7 using Eyefinity.

i bought this card for another computer. i just popped it into my new emachine(i know) to see if it would work. the box lists the os as xp. i sure am having a lot of trouble with this, i guess i will have to get a card that has windows 7 drivers. but before i do, would like to try every idea that comes up. i don't want this card to go to waste. thanks for all the helpful replies.

I think all he's looking to do is extend his desktop - his problem is that Windows 7 is only seeing the output from his graphics card as a single display, and there are no Windows 7 drivers or CCC or anything else for his 9250 series PCI card.

Please provide your system specs as Qdos requested - there are lots of variables.

If it does indeed have a PCIe x16 slot - and assuming your PSU can handle it, then I'd suggest going with something like a GeForce 8400 (you can find these for about $35), it uses the same drivers as the 6150, so in theory you could run up to 3 monitors on this rig (if the BIOS lets you run onboard graphics + a PCIe card at the same time). It's not going to be a screaming gamer by any stretch of the imagination, but it will satisfy your basic 2D dual monitor specification without breaking the bank.

Your biggest concern will be the power supply - need to make sure you've got at least 350w...

FWIW - Tom's Hardware has a pretty good chart that groups graphics cards with similar performance characteristics into different tiers. It's a really good reference resource for anyone shopping for a new video adapter.
