I was previously using XP SP3 on a intel 915GAV mobo. It installed the Intel Extreme Graphics which showed many resolutions for my monitor. After installing Windows 7 I only get 3 options of resolution. Any workaround for this? Cannot find any graphic drivers for this mobo.
I'm afraid the only options open to you are going to involve buying new gear. I certainly wouldn't recommend spending any kind of serious money upgrading the platform you are currently on though, you'd be better off investing in a new rig.
Thanks. Does that mean I should buy a graphics card? Since I am not into heavy gaming but more on photoshop and stuff like that, what graphics card would you recommend? Not too expensive.
Shop newegg or tigerdirect. There are many high performance video cards that are not good at gaming but are excellent for other applications such as photoshop, or bluray playback, whatever. just a suggestion, shop around. If you find one you like, make sure it matches your slot and your power supply can support it
The real problem here is that the Intel 915GAV motherboard is a pretty old platform; I seriously doubt it even has a PCI-e bus so your choices might be pretty limited. Obviously I'm just guessing since I don't have one handy to look at, but given it's relative age I'd say it's probably sporting an AGP 4x graphics bus at best.
The best advice I can give you on this problem, is to do some research and make sure Windows 7 drivers exist for any card you are considering (before you buy one only to find out there are no W7 drivers - like an ATI 9250).
If it were me? I'd save some dough and get a new PC, there are some really good bargains around these days and you could certainly do with an upgrade from the P4 platform...

FWIW - all nVidia 6xxx series cards have Windows 7 drivers. Be extra careful if you are looking at ATI-based cards, they have had some issues with AGP drivers (http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...AGPHotfix.aspx).
